We usually only get 6 or 7 chicks at a time but there are 11 of them this time...not sure how long before they outgrow their new digs!
The big girls checking out the Peepers and vice versa!
I told you guys there were two roosters! The one in the back is the one marked at the hatchery, the one in the center is the one I suspected to be a roo, looks pretty convincing to me!
That first night, I went down to check on them after dark to make sure they knew to go in their house. Well, of course they were all standing in the corner of the pen in a big huddle! Silly chickens! I put each one in the house but some kept trying to get back out so I had to put a board across the opening to make them stay in.The second night when I went down to check on them, they were all in the house like good Peepers! They seem to be settling in very well. They had a little treat of stale bread and kale from the garden this morning, they went right after the bread but they weren't too sure about the kale! LOL!!
Just like kids - they won't eat their vegetables! They are so cute! I love that age. I think you are right - sure looks like two roos.
ReplyDeleteI would say you're right about there being two roos as well. All those peepers sure are cute!
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteThat's funny about the vegetables! I didn't think of that! LOL!!
MamaTea,
They sure are cute and when they are little, they are still pretty friendly! :)
they look pretty big. glad they're settling in to their 'big birdie' house now. :)
ReplyDeleteCute! It's always nice to get them moved to a bigger house! What kind are they? They look like Buff Orpingtons.
ReplyDeleteTWG,
ReplyDeleteThey seem to be fine outside. I always worry, of course, when I first move them out! :)
SweetLand Farm,
Yep, Buff Orpingtons! :)
Looks like 2 roosters to me....
ReplyDeletedr momi,
ReplyDeleteYeah, now I have to decide what to do with one of them. :(
That's funny about the Kale. My chickens will do the same.
ReplyDeleteKristina,
ReplyDeleteThey are sure picky sometimes! :)
They are very cute!
ReplyDeleteTeresa,
ReplyDeleteThanks! If only they would quit trying to run out the gate every time I feed them! LOL!!
Funny, my chickens LOVE kale. I swear it is their favorite vegetable. Your little peepers are so cute and that is a cute little house.
ReplyDeleteKateri,
ReplyDeleteThat was actually a free dog house! :) It is so funny sometimes what they will eat, my big girls LOVE tomatoes and yet I have had others tell me that their chickens won't touch tomatoes! LOL!!
Robyn,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder! :)
