Seasoned Pepper

I love making my own spice and seasoning blends! I get to control the ingredients and omit the fillers, artificial colors and preservatives that are in so many of the commercial products. I have been making this seasoned pepper for several years now and it is my absolute favorite; I use it on everything from eggs to cottage cheese to steaks and chicken! I previously posted the recipe for Lemon Pepper which is also very good and gets used a lot around here. Watch for more spice and seasoning blend recipes in the future including seasoned salt!

Seasoned Pepper
1/2 cup ground black pepper
1 tablespoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspooon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Mix together well and store in an airtight container. Pretty easy, huh?!?

  3. Good idea! I'm trying to find a hot salt recipe. In the south, years ago, some of the small, local cafes had a very spicy salt out (in shakers). It was probably cayenne mixed with salt, it was HOT and so good. I need to just make some up. Great on fried chicken!

    I have a cajun seasoning blend that is hot, hot, hot! I wonder if adding some salt to that would come close?

  9. I always mix my own spices as I need, I buy in bulk and mix depending on what the meal is. It gives you some time to experiment when cooking.
