"Wow! This is a cool looking old barn...kind of different..."
"I wonder what it was used for? Let's go look around inside."
"Well...it's certainly seen better days! What is that stuff over against the wall?"
"Hey! This was a milking barn! I had heard there used to be a dairy around here!"
"There's even a good lookin' cowboy to show me how the stanchions work! Isn't he sweet to drive me all over half the county looking for photo ops?!?" ;-)
Linking up with Tricia at Bluff Area Daily for Barn Charm.
i do like the old stanchions! and the concrete lower portion of the barn, itself.
ReplyDeleteLove the old stanchions. I remember seeing them as a child. Nice shots. Pamela
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing stanchions when I was little.
ReplyDeleteI had to enlarge to see that this was a milking barn...didn't read till after. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt's so neat to be able to see inside. Nice find!
ReplyDeleteI have been taking picture of barns too. Here in SC they are all falling down kinda sad to see a part of our history going away isn't it? You barn looks like one my Father In Law had on his property.
ReplyDeleteNice series of photos! Fun to be able to explore inside. Isn't it great to have a patient sweetie to drive you around?
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to have someone drive you for pictures.
ReplyDeleteMine doesn't often like to stop. ;-)
It is a neat building.
I always enjoy history, though sometimes it's sad. As in no dairy any more.
Thanks for sharing your pictures with us! :-)
wow, no kidding. needs some real work. (:
ReplyDeleteNeat old barn! I grew up across the highway from a dairy farm, and was in that old barn a lot during milking times!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby drives me all over the place looking for barns too.
(Visiting from Barn Charm)
how fun to get to look around inside! what a nice guy you have there too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to roam around and rake photos! Very, very nice!
ReplyDeleteA great find, Candy. How great to be about to inspect it up close!
ReplyDeleteAnd your cowboy is very sweet to chauffeur you around for images. :)
How fun! Old barns are like day trips through an entire time period. Love it.
ReplyDeleteTWG,
ReplyDeleteThe concrete would make it easy for cleaning I guess.
Pamela,
It was fun to find them still there!
Barb,
Thank you for stopping by! :)
Rose,
It was pretty interesting to poke around inside!
Mari,
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was fun!
Dolly,
It is sad to see a part of history falling into disrepair.
Elaine,
He has been very good about it, I think he enjoys looking too!
LindaG,
I have been really pleased with how often we stop, sometimes he will point something out! LOL!!
Beth,
ReplyDeleteYep, needs a LOT of work! LOL!!
Dianna,
How neat to have those memories and kudos to your hubby!
Tanya,
It was fun to go inside!
EG CameraGirl,
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed it! :)
Nancy,
He is great and enjoys "the hunt" almost as much as I do!
Kristina,
They sure are, such a lot of history!
Some may call me a "stickler"...and LORD knows I am certainly guilty...
ReplyDeletebut isn't poking around the same as Tresspassing?
Just saying...
Let's all be careful out there!
We've curtailed all our fence jumping here. Property changes hands a lot around these parts and people don't know one another like they used too. The Old farmers have passed and the kin folk that move in and take over don't want the 'liability'...is what the guy behind us said.
Sad really, cause we used to fish those ponds when Old Mr. Bateman owned it.
~Pat
Mighty kind cowboy, indeed! I don't think I've ever been inside a dairy barn, before now, so thank you for the virtual tour! LoL! I wonder if they'll do anything else w/ the place... =0
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in & linking up to this week's Barn Charm! =)
Poor barn really has seen better days. My barn used to be a milking barn too. I still have a couple of the stanchions from it.
ReplyDeleteYaya!! Locking head stanchion!! I can see the Jerseys in there now! ;)What a find! And nice man to drive you all over the place to take all these wonderful pics to share for us!
ReplyDeletePat,
ReplyDeleteGood reminder and I never cross a fence or a No Trespassing sign and I never take anything away except pictures! This particular barn was just at the end of a dirt road.
Tricia,
I had never been inside one before either, ex-city girl that I am! :)
Teresa,
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you have a couple of the old stanchions from your barn!
SweetLand Farm,
I was thinking you dairy cow types would really like this post! ;-)
Love the old stanchions. Our neighbor had a dairy farm and I remember seeing the cows locked up in these for milking. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat find! And, wish I had me a cowboy to show me around, too ;)
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of those barns that TV painter used to create, out in the country, in disrepair but wonderfully beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNancy,
ReplyDeleteWhat fun memories, thanks for stopping by!
Tezzie,
I surely do appreciate him! :)
Kathy,
I love "finding" all the old abandoned buildings we have around here!
Yep, what would we do without our sweet guys who indulge our blogging whims! It's great that he also is knowledgeable about the milking apparatus! Great barn!
