This photo was taken on our recent trip up to Flagstaff.
For many years, this building on historic Route 66 in Flagstaff, AZ was a furniture store. It has just recently reopened as a very nice health food store called Natural Grocers. The mural was painted by Melanie Thomson-Myers, I can't find any info on what year but it was awhile ago. The building was originally the Flagstaff Armory and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Linking up with Monday Mural this week. Check it out for lots of great murals from around the world! Also linking up with Mandarin Orange Monday! :)
love that holstein! :)
ReplyDeleteAmazingly big, I think it's great though.
ReplyDeleteGreat mural! I.Love.Cows!!!
ReplyDeleteCows make me laugh. Giant cows, even more so. This would definitely get your attention from the highway and makes a great landmark (e.g. turn left at the ginormous holstein). Well rendered and with affection. Like that she also added architectural interest with the faux stones around the entry. Interesting history to the building. Thanks for contributing to Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteNeat find, Candy! The cow looks like she belongs on a State Fair Dairy building.
ReplyDeleteA giant cow to greet you at the door. That's amoozing:-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job she did of painting this!
ReplyDeleteIt's huge!
When I saw the size of the door and the windows...well, wow!
What a wonderful mural this larger than life cow makes!
ReplyDeleteI love that mural Candy. I love moo-moos. What a talented artist Ms. Thomson-Myers is. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of great murals around here but I don't have much luck with photographing them....you did a great job on this one and I just love the colors!!!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh Who doesn't love a cow. Great mural.
ReplyDeleteWow! Awesome. Better if it was a goat though. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love it. B
ReplyDeleteDelightful! And still in such good shape!
ReplyDeleteGreat mural. Thanks for sharing it with us. :o)
ReplyDeleteNice design!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! You'd think this was in Wisconsin rather than Arizona. How on earth did they decide on a cow?
ReplyDeleteWow -- that's a beautiful image. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat mural! And I am so glad you included information on the artist and the building!
ReplyDeleteFantastic mural. I love it when all the history is available. I spend so much time trying to search it out sometimes and never get the artist or timeline.
ReplyDeleteI am so hooked on Mandarin Orange Monday (meme) that the first thing I saw was the bright orange door and corner ... then I saw the cow. What an awesome mural. My sister did murals in Prescot, so I can appreciate how difficult a mural of that size can be ... Hat's off to the artist. Now you should put this on the above mentioned meme and the cow will become really famous ... I have had fun visiting your blog. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From The Sol
