Photo Art Friday - 03/01/2013

For Photo Art Friday this week, the optional prompt is Vintage. I took a picture of one of the girls out in the cow pasture and tried to give it a vintage photo look by using Bonnie's Vintage Vellum texture. Then, I couldn't decide if I liked the sepia or the B&W better so you get to see both. ;)
Below is the original, it's Jerry's favorite.

Also sharing with P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday and Weekly Top Shot.

Photo Art Friday - Abstract

For Photo Art Friday this week, Bonnie challenged us to create a composite (collaged) piece of ABSTRACT photo art. We were to utilize at least two of her backgrounds/textures and one or two additional images, preferably our own. This was certainly a challenge for me as I don't normally do this kind of "art!" I gotta say, I'm really, really pleased with how it turned out! :)

Here are the elements I used. All editing was done in Photoshop Elements 11.

This is also my P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday submission and I will be linking up with Weekly Top Shot.

Photo Art Friday - Minimalist

For Photo Art Friday this week, Bonnie gave us the optional theme of Minimalist. I really like the way this came out. :) Also sharing with Weekly Top Shot.

Vey's Front Door

Jerry's friend, Vey, is an old-timer around these parts. His family helped to settle this area many, many years ago. We both love visiting with him and hearing his stories. There's just about nuthin' Vey hasn't seen or done in his life! One of the things he has accomplished is to build his own adobe home. This is his front door. He took an old wooden door and covered it with cut in half yucca stalks. Pretty cool, huh?!? :)

Photo Art Friday - 01/04/2013

For Photo Art Friday this week, Bonnie gave us the option to "showcase a piece of photo art that features a word you have chosen to guide or inspire you for the year 2013." This photo represents something I want to have a little more of this year. :)
Sharing with Weekly Top Shot too.

Photo Art Friday - 11/30/2012

For Photo Art Friday this week, Bonnie asked us to showcase one of our favorite or best pieces of photo art. I featured these spurs on my blog back in March but decided to re-do the picture for today's post and use some of the techniques that I have learned since then. This is one of my favorite pieces of photo art mostly because of the subject matter and I also like the vintage photo look with the sepia tone. I used Bonnie's new Golden Chaff texture for this edit. Also linking up with Weekly Top Shot and Tones on Tuesday.

Photo Art Friday - 11/09/2012

During our recent trip to New Mexico, our lovely hostess had a beautiful centerpiece of flowers and I just couldn't resist snapping a few pictures!

Linking up with Bonnie for Photo Art Friday where the prompt this week is lines. I figured the lines of text in Bonnie's Vintage Manuscript #2 texture oughta count! ;)

Photo Art Friday - Ancient Paths

When Bonnie suggested using her new, free, Cobblestone Road texture to create a piece of photo art this week for Photo Art Friday, I immediately thought of the picture of the little Buddha statue I took out at Sleeping Frog Farms last month. He was sitting just inside the barn and his topknot was broken off but I could tell that he was still very much loved! :)

Photo Art Friday - Figures

Ever since my parents moved to beautiful southeast Arizona in the mid 80s, I have been fascinated with Native American petroglyphs and pictographs.
My ex-husband and I took a week long trip to Moab, Utah many, many years ago that included a backcountry jeep/camping/hiking tour of the surrounding area. Our guides took us to some amazing places with awesome rock art and artifacts. I honestly don't even remember having a camera along on the trip but I did purchase this lovely piece of art that is a representation of the petroglyphs created so long ago by the Native Americans who lived in the area.
When Bonnie suggested the prompt of "Figures" for this week's Photo Art Friday, this was the first thing that came to my mind. The rock is actually mounted on a piece of cream colored poster board, matted, framed under glass, and hangs on the wall in our living room. I used Nancy's texture Betty by el vigilante as the background and then added a photograph of my rock art and edited with Pixlr.

Flower Art Friday - 09/28/2012

The roses have been blooming again this week and I wanted to show them off for the Friday memes. I took a bunch of pictures trying to come up with something that really made me say hmmm. I finally settled on these two. I like them but, eh, not my favorites... LOL!!

We have been enjoying the roses on the fireplace mantle anyway! :)

Photo Art Friday - 09/14/2012

I'm joining Bonnie for Photo Art Friday this week where she challenged us to compose a seven word sentence that describes your life or experience or process as an artist (be it a photographer, painter, mixed media artist, digital artist, whatever ...) and marry your sentence to a piece of photo art that somehow illustrates your sentence. Of course, this is entirely optional and you can link up any piece of photo art that you want to share!

I came up with my "sentence" a couple of weeks ago and have been working on what type of photo art I wanted to use to illustrate it. At one point, I was even trying to figure out how I could use a picture of the laundry hanging outside on the line! LOL!! Instead, I started with the beautiful basket of peppers in the lower left corner. The peppers were given to me yesterday and as I was getting ready to chop them up for the freezer, I realized how lovely they were! Then, I started thinking of all the beauty that is in my life every day and decided to add my sweet goat, Daphne, and a beautiful wildflower I photographed earlier this year. I used Bonnie's free Vintage Vellum texture as a background.

Quite often, I think I have to have a WOW picture for it to be beautiful and be considered "art" but I'm learning that there is beauty to be found in the little things every day! :)

I'm also linking up with Orange You Glad It's Friday, which was one of the memes I had in mind when I photographed the peppers!

Photo Art Friday - Moving

Here are Jerry and Paco moving down the road at a lope. :)

Photo Art Friday - 08/17/2012

I have been wanting to try my hand at a little photo art and when I came across Bonnie's Photo Art Friday meme I figured why not link up!! The prompt for this week is container(s). Eggs are the ultimate containers of life and mine are contained in a basket. Yep, all in one basket too! LOL!!
I used Bonnie's Vintage Manuscript #2 for the effect. I am pleased with this as my first effort and hope to improve with time! :)
