Tuesday's Tails, #13

Good news, we got our first egg from the Buff Orpington hens Sunday!! YAY!! It was a good size too for a first egg but then again, they are the biggest hens I have ever had! Good girls! :)

Until they get up to full production, I bought a couple dozen eggs from one of my friends. She has a mixed flock of 23 hens that are in full production and she has eggs running out her ears! LOL!! I wanted to show ya'll the lovely variety she gets from her girls.

That is one of the most beautiful dozen eggs I think I have ever seen! :)

Congratulations! That must have been the cosmic day for Orpingtons. My lavender Orpington also laid her first egg on Sunday!

What fun! I just love finding eggs...I remember when I found the first one, I didn't believe it, and actually accused my sister of "planting" it there to tease me!

Congratulations on your first egg!
And how wonderful to have a neighbor with extra eggs. :-)

Love the blue eggs. Your egg is about the size our new chickens lay too. Usually about 2/3 the size of full size.

One of my other friend's chickens are still laying the tiniest little eggs so I felt lucky!

Yey for pullet eggs!
What breed of chickens does your friend have to get the blue and green eggs?

So glad they've started laying!

That is the best part of egg-collecting - putting the dozen together in the box! Buffies are just the loveliest hens - the first egg is so egg-citing!

I'm looking forward to finding ways to use them all up!

She has Araucanas for the blue and green eggs and actually the pink ones too! The dark brown eggs are from her Black Australorps.

Me too, I was getting tired of buying eggs! LOL!!

Very egg-citing! I love my Buffs, they are so pretty and really friendly too!

I thought that was cute! :)

The Buffs are beautiful, you'll have to get some new chicks.

I'm really loving the Buffs, wish I had started with them instead of the Barred Rocks! :)

I was really impressed by the range of color from her Araucanas!

Not me!! LOL!!
