Photo Art Friday - 11/30/2012

For Photo Art Friday this week, Bonnie asked us to showcase one of our favorite or best pieces of photo art. I featured these spurs on my blog back in March but decided to re-do the picture for today's post and use some of the techniques that I have learned since then. This is one of my favorite pieces of photo art mostly because of the subject matter and I also like the vintage photo look with the sepia tone. I used Bonnie's new Golden Chaff texture for this edit. Also linking up with Weekly Top Shot and Tones on Tuesday.

Barn Charm - 11/20/2012

This very much "lived in" barn was right beside the highway in Lincoln county, New Mexico.
I suspect the folks who live there (and were outside working) were wondering what the crazy lady with the camera was up to! :)

Chiminea

Okay, I'm just having waaay too much fun with this photo editing stuff! :) I realized today while playing around on Pixlr Express that I can add the same effect more than once for more oomph, apply multiple effects and/or overlays and I can even add multiple borders to the same picture. What fun!! Below is a shot of our chiminea SOOC.

Snapshot And A Song - 09/10/2012

LeAnne at Photos By LeAnne has a fairly new meme going called Snapshot & A Song. I have been thinking and thinking of what I could do to play along. Last week, I was going through some old "stuff" and came across my tambourine, which made me think of the song by The Oakridge Boys, "Ya'll Come Back Saloon," words and music by Sharon Vaughn. This is one of my favorite songs by The Oakridge Boys so I figured it was fate! :)

Boy-howdy did I have fun putting this picture together! I did it all with Pixlr. I created a layer with the lyrics and superimposed that over the photo of my tambourine; which, by the way, has a picture on it that I didn't want in this case, so I played around until I figured out how to airbrush out the picture! Woo-hoo!! I gave the tambourine photo a few tweaks with the "old photo" effect and messed with the brightness and hue until I was happy with it. Fun, fun, fun!! :)

Barn Charm - 08/28/2012

We don't have a whole lot of barns around these parts and the ones we do have, I don't usually consider charming. This one was probably pretty charming back in the day but now, it's pretty much just waiting to fall down. It is located right next to a new freeway interchange.

Most of the wooden barns in this part of the country have been replaced by metal ones due to a really, really bad problem with termites!

Shades of Yellow

This is a busy, busy time of year for many of us, what with gardens needing care and produce needing preserved. Isn't it wonderful?!? :)
I wanted to take the time to share some of the beautiful desert wildflowers in our area, all in shades of yellow this time.

Made ME Jump!

I was working away, pulling grass in the garden, when something moved practically under my hand! No, I didn't scream like a girl but I sure jumped and I think the tarantula was just as surprised as I was. :)
He/she wasn't in any big hurry so I ran inside and grabbed my camera. Jerry kept saying, "You know they jump, don't you? It's gonna jump on your head!" He thought he was real funny. :-/
The rains always bring out the tarantulas so I knew to be on the lookout, just not right under my hand. LOL!!

Who's There?

I love ravens but the ones around here are very camera shy. I was able to get this guy's picture through the front window the other day as he hopped up the steps onto the porch! :)

The old tractors in the Benson 4th of July parade are always a big hit! :) Because of the way this man is dressed, I think the photo has a rather timeless feel to it.
