Christmas Pillow

I love making crafty things but I don't do it as often as I used to. My blogging friend Kathy at Moving On To The Past posted about her Christmas Projects the other day and inspired me to dig out the pattern and material for a quilted moose wall hanging that I bought a month or so ago. The pattern is by Qweenee Quail Quilts right here in southern Arizona and is called Mary Moose. I love mooses (is that right?) and have a LOT of them for my holiday decorations so when I saw this pattern at the local quilt shop, I just had to have it, even though I don't quilt. I'll have to post some pictures of all my moosey decorations next week after we get things out. :)

Because I don't quilt, I decided to make it up into a pillow!

And because storage for holiday decorations is always a problem, I decided to make it as a pillow case that I can put over one of my existing throw pillows! Pretty clever huh?!? ;-)

I really like how it turned out! It actually took almost as long to do the applique stitching as it did to piece the little quilt! LOL!! Thanks Kathy for inspiring me to get my project out and, most importantly, to get it finished!!

Candy, that is so adorable! I love moose, too. (mooses, meese, lol!) We have had one visit our barnyard a few times. :o)

Great job on the project!

I love it. He's so cute. What's his name? Michelle will just love it too. She recently redecorated her living room with the lodge theme. Kathy's idea was great, she inspired me too. I'll post something soon.

Julie,
How cool to have a real moose come visiting! :)

Heidi,
It's supposed to be a girl moose named Mary Moose but it looks like a boy to me! I'll have to think of a name for him!

Mama Tea,
Thanks! Sure takes up less room when I pack it away! ;-)

Kathy,
Thanks and thanks for the inspiration! :)

That IS a great idea, making it a pillow cover! You could make Mooses Meeses pillows for EVERY season!

Aww, that is adorable! One of my goals for this winter is to make the time for crafting a couple of times a week. I would love to start sewing again. I haven't done it years.

That is so cute! I've never done any kind of quilting type of project, but I would love to try it.

cute pillow, and great idea making it a cover to use over another one. Hmmm I have one with Merry Christmas on it, maybe I can make a cover for it to use the rest of the year instead of stuffing it in a drawer.

Heidi is right I do love it. It would look great on my sofa. Along with the fleece throw I just finished. I love reading your post.

Is there no end to the creativity on the LJBC Ranch??? That is an adorable design and what a clever idea to make it into a pillow case!
