I have been using cloth napkins for many years. Some of my napkins are looking pretty ratty and since Jerry's mom came to stay with us, I never seem to have enough. On a recent trip 'down to the Wal-Mart' I looked for some new napkins, I have purchased them there before. But, NOOOO, they don't carry them anymore! I figured the Farmgirl thing to do would be to make my own so I bought some pretty material and forged ahead. My plan was to use the serger and do a narrow rolled hem but I just couldn't get it to work right. I think my material was too thick (or you just have to be smarter than the serger!) LOL!! Anyway, plan B was put into effect and I just hemmed them. I think they turned out okay after all that. :)

very nice. they look store-bought to me!
That's a great idea. I was collecting used ones from thrift stores, to take tent camping. I will have to search for clearance priced fabric and make my own now.
TWG,
Just don't look too closely at some of the stitching while I was getting the tension set correctly! LOL!!
Kristina,
If you can find some material for $2 a yard, you could get 4 to 6 napkins out of it depending on the size you like and YOU get to pick the pattern! :)
Cute! they look great, and probably better than what you could have bought at Walmart anyway :)
Thanks Amy!
These would make really nice gifts and you could match their dining room colors.
Great idea Kathy!! :)
Really great idea. I just got a new sewing machine, and that would be great with some fun fabric. I made my first batik, summer top today! Happy, happy!
Nancy,
YAY for new sewing machines and new tops! :)
