Barn Charm - 08/28/2012

We don't have a whole lot of barns around these parts and the ones we do have, I don't usually consider charming. This one was probably pretty charming back in the day but now, it's pretty much just waiting to fall down. It is located right next to a new freeway interchange.

Most of the wooden barns in this part of the country have been replaced by metal ones due to a really, really bad problem with termites!

All of these pictures have been edited with Pixlr-o-matic.

Nice pics. Too bad about all the termites eating the barns. I love a nice wooden barn.

Wow, it's amazing that they are still standing! They look like old bony things - but charming ones....

they are a bit woozy, aren't they? :)

LOL at TWG's 'woozy' comment! =)

Darn those ol nasty termites... That wood can surely be reused, can't it?
Great edits & thanks for joining =)

Our barn down in VA was close to 75 years old and the hickory and chestnut it was built from was still standing strong so these must really be OLD!...:)JP

Because Cypress is so darned expensive for building barns!
Don't you wish you could hear the stories those barns could tell?
Have a wonderful evening!

I am so drawn to the color in the first one. Not sure why, but I could look at it for a very long time.

Nice, I love barns!

There's still plenty of charm left there. It's a shame so many barns are left to crumble.

They look like the barns around here! I always feel sorry for such old barns. Would love to be able to love one back to a good life.

This barn is wonderful! I'm so glad you found it. I actually found a few "on the fly" as we were passing them on the train to the Canyon! :-) You'll see those insufficient shots later.

A lot of the barns around here look similar--and we don't have termites to blame. There is a certain charm in tumbled down old barns, but a lot of sadness, too.

I love the vintage feel of the second shot! The processing works great with the subject. Thank you for sharing and for linking up with Tones on Tuesday! I hope to see you back again this week.
