Guess Whooo Stopped By

I heard an owl the other morning and decided to try to get some pictures, even though it was still pretty dark out. With a bit of tweaking of the brightness and some red eye reduction, I think they turned out okay. S/He actually let me get right up underneath the power pole to get the last couple of photos. It was a Great Horned Owl and man was it BIG!! :)
Sharing with Wild Bird Wednesday and I'm also going to join Kent Weakley for Project 52 Sweet Shot Tuesday this year.

What a great photo! Don't you just love those big owls?! We have a pair that are with us every winter, out hooting away in the snowy dark. It is comforting to hear them when I am out walking the dog at night.

I love owls, as long as they leave my chickens alone, that is! Great shots, Candy!!!

Yep, we recently had one in our chicken coop. They are the big ka-hoona for sure.

Wow! really exciting! I have NEVER been able to get a shot of an owl, and barely get them of hawks, so I'm impressed! I saw a video of a Great Horned Owl flying straight for the camera, and it was SCARY! And really cool.

You are pretty clever sneaking up on that owl. You sure your not a ninja !!!!!

Really?! He couldn't find an old rickety TREE to sit in??! It has to be a utility pole????! Criminy. Stupid owl.

Cool shots though!

Good captures. I always love it when I can see the great horned owls. I hope they've nested close by and I can find their nest again. It's so nice to see the little ones grow up.

What a great visitor to have. The photos look a bit ghostly...in a good kind of a way.

Great picture - much better than just a light pole!

Cheers and thinks for linking to WBW.

That's awesome! (Unless it's after your chickens/cats and other small animals). We sometimes see them but only a glimpse as they fly overhead, nothing like this!
