Winter Kale

I got absolutely NOTHING done in the garden this past week! In my defense though, Jerry's mom was here visiting. What?!? It sounded like a good excuse to me! LOL!!
I did get some seeds ordered and they should be arriving sometime this week.
I wanted to link up with Heidi's Country Garden Showcase this week so I thought I would show ya'll some pictures of the beautiful kale that is just about the only thing growing in my garden right now. We don't eat it as often as we should but the chickens are always happy to see me coming with some greens! :) Maybe I'll get around to making some Zuppa Toscana this week.

I think they are pretty enough to deserve their own post! :)

Your excuse works for me, and I think it's the most beautiful color!

Teresa,
Thanks!

Jaime,
I had to go get the seed packet to check! It is "Ornamental Fringed Mix" from Baker Creek. We eat it and it is very good. I guess I know now why they are so pretty! LOL!!

Kathy,
I fix it just the same. It really only got "pretty" with the colder weather, before it was just green.

Jean,
Yeah, we are a bit warmer down here! :)

Kristina,
It is very good, I need to make some soup with it!

Candy,
LOL. We all know you're a very BUSY woman. Some weeks none of us make it into the yard and some weeks that's all we do. I always look forward to reading your posts. You never disappoint.

That is the prettiest kale I have ever seen.

Such pretty kale. I alway plant kale in my front flower garden to attract butterflies, and keep telling myself that I need to plant the really decorative kale. Who needs flowers if you have vegetables that look like this!
