Old Mescal

Here are some more pictures taken at the Old Mescal movie set just to the north of us. It does look like an old west town out in the middle of the high desert, huh?!?

We can actually see the movie set up on the hill from the front door. Let's take a closer look at the big brick building on the right.

Why look, it's the saloon building from the movie The Quick and The Dead starring Sharon Stone and Russell Crowe!! A little the worse for wear but still pretty cool! :)

Linking up with Lisa and Nancy for Rural Thursday.

wow, how neat! is it just deserted when it's not in use for a movie?

I LOVE it!! It reminds me so much of where we honeymooned in west Texas (Lajitas).

Is it privately owned, and/or does someone live there? Cool and I loved that movie. Leo was so young!

It is deserted when they aren't filming a movie but there is a caretaker on-site to prevent vandalism. It is owned by Old Tucson Studios.

I do recognize this building from The Quick and The Dead, which by the way, is an awesome movie! Thanks for the photos and interesting facts!

Hi Candy, It sure must be fun living near the sets. Do films get made there any longer? I grew up in Los Angeles so I enjoy seeing sets and movie and television action. Nice pictures - just like being there! Have a wonderful day and a great coming weekend!

I just love your peaks into the movie set. You don't see that type of thing where I live.

I've never seen the movie, but just showed the pictures to my husband who is impressed that the town is still standing! He said in the movie, it gets blown to bits.
